How Sandwich Panels Help Maintain Stable Temperatures in Poultry Farms

How Sandwich Panels Help Maintain Stable Temperatures in Poultry Farms

May 30, 2026

Poultry are highly sensitive to temperature; large temperature differences can easily lead to illness and loss of appetite, directly impacting farming profits. Therefore, maintaining a stable temperature in poultry houses is crucial for successful poultry farming. Many farms now use sandwich panels to construct walls and roofs, easily achieving a constant temperature inside the house.

Sandwich panels have a three-layer composite structure: two metal protective panels on each side, and an insulating core in the middle. The middle zinc insulating layer has a very low thermal conductivity, providing excellent insulation. In summer, it blocks outside heat from entering the house, slowing down rapid temperature increases; in winter, it locks in the heat from the house's heating system and the poultry's own heat, preventing cold air from entering and significantly reducing the temperature difference between day and night. Compared to corrugated iron sheds and ordinary brick walls, sandwich panels offer better insulation, preventing stuffy days and cold nights.

The inner lining of the sandwich panels can be changed to suit different farming environments. For example, aluminum foil lining can be used for the roof of higher areas of the poultry house to prevent moisture and reduce condensation. For walls near the ground that are easily splashed with manure and wastewater, cement mortar cloth lining can be used, which is resistant to ammonia and manure corrosion and is not easily damaged by long-term washing. The thickness of the sandwich panels can be selected from 30mm to 50mm; the thicker the panel, the better the insulation effect. Farmers can choose the appropriate thickness based on the local climate and the required insulation level.

During installation, the sandwich panels are tightly joined, and the seams are sealed with sealant to prevent cold air from entering the poultry house and to prevent heat loss. Once the temperature stabilizes, frequent turning of heating or cooling equipment is unnecessary, saving considerable electricity costs. Poultry in a comfortable, constant-temperature environment are less likely to experience stress due to temperature fluctuations, resulting in more regular eating habits, faster growth, and a significantly lower probability of disease.

In summary, sandwich panels are easy to assemble, heat-insulating, durable, and cost-effective. Different thicknesses of sandwich panels can be selected according to different temperature requirements. They can maintain a stable temperature in poultry houses for a long time and improve the growth environment of poultry. They are a practical and cost-effective building material for modern poultry farms.
